it seems that when i insert the game pad into either usb ports, it doesnt respond in windows. When i try my ms usb mouse, it works great in either usb port. I dont think i have any cd/driver for this gamepad.. is it possible to still make it work properly in w2k?

Have you tried adding the device in Game Controllers from the Control Panel? From the list of supported devices, select "Microsoft Sidewinder (Autodetect)".

Hope that helps,

If it's any microsoft sidewinder product you will need the software to get anything beyond basic functionality. This is not a free download - you gotta have the CD or someone to make you a copy.

Also there is a usb patch that needs installed if you are using w2k and a VIA chipset based motherboard. The patch can be found at the MS sidewinder website and also at www.viarena.com somewhere I believe. That usb patch did the trick for me...everything just magically starts working.

good luck
