i got the new PC version of Madden 2k3 i am using a MS sidewinder gamepad but the game seems to only allows the Gravis gamepads to be used. Is there somewhere in the game to override the default setting and use the MS sidewinder or do i need to go out and but a gravis pad?

I went out and bought a gravis Eliminator gamepad just cuz i wanted to have 2 gamepads anyway. So im playing Madden 2k3 and its so far so good.
Now i have a new problem tho: At the snap when trying to throw to a reciever or run with the ball, the directional button on the controller seems to be switched to where when i press forward on the pad, the guy on the screen runs backwards! Everything is upside down so to speak and its not a very logical set up. In the madden game appears to be no way to reverse the control of the directional pad. I tried the configuration test in win2k outside of the game and all the buttons and the directional pad work properly the way theyre supposed to work.
Anyone know how to remedy this weird issue?
