MS Sidewinder game pad 1.0 and Win2k

Anyone able to get the MS Sidewinder game pad 1.0 to work under Windows 2000?

I've tried downloading the Sidewinder software 3.02 but it gets an install error under Win2k. Is this game pad compatible with Win2k?

My Sidewinder game pad works perfectly in Windows 2000. I use it all the time in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. I just use the drivers that come with Windows 2000 with it, I didn't even bother to download the software.

Madden 2001 is the game I'm trying to get it to work with. It doesn't show up in the available controllers.

Under windows 2001, the side winder isn't listed in the game controllers. How do I force Win2k to recongize it?

It doesn't show up automatically under Game Controllers. Make sure the green light in the middle of the pad is lit, then open Game Controllers in the control panel, then click Add, then scroll down and select Microsoft Sidewinder game pad. If you are using DirectX 8.0 it will just say Microsoft Sidewinder (auto detect). Once the status says OK it should work fine in anything, unless there is some issue with Madden 2001. Try downloading DirectX 8.0 and see if that helps.
