MS Popup Blocker Busted!

Anyone else notice the MS popup blocker, built into ms explorer, has apparently been cracked and now useless. Popups "were" blocked for awhile, when service pack 2 was released with the new blocker, but now they've figured how to bust thru. I get all or most the popups now, that I use to get without the blocker. You'd figure these sites would figure out how to defeat the ms blocker. No wonder virus writers keep defeating ms efforts against viruses.

I have never encountered that problem, but thast be because I only go to the Windows Update site through IE along with any other sites that only work in IE. I would suggest using a different browser such as FF or Opera

You know, I've been getting pop-ups in Firefox lately as well. I guess that browser is a POS also.

I wonder if the *same* popups that have been "getting through Firefox", are also the ones (apparently) defeating the MS popup-blocker? Likely, in both cases, it's Flash doing the dirty work here then. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that WMP could also be hijacked for the same ends, by embedding a tiny media file with some web-scripting content in it too.
