MS Outlook keeps hanging

Hi group,

I'm using Outlook 2002 as my pop email client. I received an email about an hour ago that I wanted to reply to. Trying to reply to it several times caused Outlook to hang up. Now, whenever I start outlook, I am able to work in it for maybe 5 seconds before it hangs up.

I have 14,000+ msgs in my trash folder. I guess I forgot to empty it out lately. All that damn spam. Anyway, I can't have the program be responsive enough to delete those items. I basically can't do anything. And I don't even know for sure if that's the problem, but I do recall having a full folder like that causing problems in the past, just not this bad.

Any ideas?
