MS Optical Mouse shuts down!

I have an MS optical mouse (not the cordless one) and recently it has started to turn it self off.
I unplug the USB and plug it back in, and it works.
Do you guys know why?
 
Sounds to me like a USB problem, as the mouse will be "on" whenever the computer is. If unplugging/replugging fixes the problem I would try to reinstall your USB drivers or find out what you are doing when this happens. Something similar used to happen to me when i turned my desk fan on; my mouse would disconnect and I would have to unplug/replug it to get it working. Once I got my UPS my problem was solved. Moving the fan to another circuit also would likely have helped.

this happened to my intellimouse explorer... i called microsoft, told them what it was doing, gave them the number on the bottom of the mouse, they sent me a new mouse within a week, no hassles
