MS optical intellimouse left click problem

Example ...

If I close IE6 window (like this page)
,,, it closes this window ,,, then opens whatever is under the window button I clicked.
(my prime95 icon is on my desktop under where a window close button lies)
So, when I close my window ... Prime95 starts up !

another example,,, if I click the button for 'UP' in open explorer folder...
I somtimes get sent all the way up the drive path (like clicking it repeatively)

I've adjusted the 'click speed' with no changes for better.

I'm using Intellipoint 4.12 software.

help ..?

Ok ,,, I may have found my problem.

I'm using 'tweakUI'

It has some fine adjustments for mouse button settings.

I can't remember if I altered them,,,

but I'm experimenting with double click sensitivity within UI
(not in IP4.12)

I'm not having any luck.

I cant think of what I might have done to make this occure.

Maybe my mouse button is failing ...?

It may be. I have had several MS optical mice and none exhibited the problem you are mentioning (though on my explorer 3.0a, the buttons are a bit sensitive). Have you tried the mouse on a different computer?

If you still have problems, you may find it useful to RMA the mouse back to Microsoft by digging up that huge thread in the Hot Deals forum. Good luck.

Did you install any drivers that came with the mouse???

Go to mouse options and make sure mouse button is not set to something like 'OPEN NEXT'.

try a different mouse on that computer. always check the easy things first.
