If i purchase ms office 2003 pro academic version does it need to be activated just as the non-academic version would?

Also, can it be installed on my desktop and laptop?

Thanks

you have to activate it just like the normal version, and as far as I know, you are still paying a per computer license. If you want it on both, I think technically you have to buy multiple licenses! :p

I don't believe there is a "pro" "academic" version of Office 2003. The academic version includes Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook. The nice thing is that the license allows you to install on up to three machines.

no, MS allows you to install and activate office on one desktop and one portable machine.

From MS's website:
"Q. How many times can I install Office 2003 Editions?
A. You can install one copy of Office Professional Edition 2003, Office Small Business Edition 2003, and Office Standard Edition 2003 on your main computer and another on your laptop computer for your exclusive, but non-concurrent use. To install a version of these Office 2003 Editions on more than these two computers, you must obtain another license for the program. You can install Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 on up to three computers in your household if a household member is qualified. You can work with Office 2003 Editions at your desk and when mobile. Note Licenses for the 2003 release of Office acquired preinstalled on new computers are single-computer licenses that cannot be transferred or installed on another computer.

It's a little confusing because my Pro 2003 version is the academic version which i assume is the same as student and teacher, so would i be able to put it on 3 computers at home?

You are correct it is the pro version that was purchased at the academic price. It contains all the possible office programs in it. The box says academic on it.

You are confused with what product you have. There are 2 versions for students and teachers, one is an "Academic Version' of Office 2003 Pro which is essentially Office Pro at a reduced 'academic price'. This version allows only 1 installation on the desktop and 1 on the laptop. The other, which is what you are confusing your product with, is the Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition. THIS is the one that allows 3 installations.

This page here is the product you have.
