Bought this for $10 use the MS Home Use program...

So basically, if you find a PC with Windows XP and set the desktop theme to the handicapped one (high contrast white) this is what Office 2013 looks like all the time.

It's fucking terrible.

Plus, it wants me to fucking sign in. Uhh... no way.

God damn. When you open say Word or Excel, it used to just take you to a blank default document. Now you have to wade through a menu system apparently made for really fucking stupid people.

Uninstalled. Reinstalled Office 2010.

I will be attempting to get my money back from MS shortly. It's only $10 I know, but it's the principal. This fucking sucks.

File --> Options --> General --> Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office --> Office Theme --> White (default), Light Gray, Dark Gray

Changing the colors doesn't change the retard look.

Disabling those screens doesn't change the open process.

Kthxbye

I started using it few weeks back.

I don't like it, but it's not too bad.

It's clear MS is trying to make the entire thing "social".....to a point where even our IT department decided to upload pictures of employees into Exchange server.

So now when I get an email from people I have to see their f'in face......REALLY Microsoft?

Other than that, in usual MS fashion they made some improvements and ruined few things.

Shouldn't have to wade through a settings tab to do it, though. Seems like these changes should always come with a one time pop up to pick your setting.

Weird. I have mine set up so when I open a Word doc, it...you know...opens a word doc...no start screen no nothing but a fresh word doc. And other than additional stuff in the ribbon, looks the same as 2007 did for me.

*shrug*

But I guess youre right. Or Im hallucinating. Or something.

prepare the lube vic because all software is going into that direction, everything will have a "retard look" in the next years.
Even anandtech (the site) has that look in its new design.

I kinda understand where they're coming from, it will need some time to get me used to it though since I'm used to "more gloss, shadows, 3D and trasparencies = good".

2003 was the best version of Office. 2007 had bloat beyond belief, 2010 had the worst ribbon interface ever conceived.

I imagine 2013 is pretty much just a mushroom cloud of suck by now.

I am currently using 2010, and then was messing around with my coworker's newly updated computer with Office 2010, I find out I can no longer use the 'legacy' hotkeys (like the ones in 2003). This makes me sad.
