MS Networking Password Needed?

On MS Windows 9x, there is a window that pops up as soon as Windows boots up. On mine is the MS Networking login, on others it is the Windows log on window. My question is, do I really need this MS Networking login window to come up everytime I start my computer? No one else really uses my computer on a regular basis, so there are no other login names/passwords on my system, also I'm pretty sure I can still connect to the internet through the LAN if I disable this feature. Is there any reason why I should keep this logon window? Is this MS Networking password device a safety measure of some sort? Thank you very much for the info.
 
The Microsoft Networing password is only used to log into a domain. This provides no local security, so you can disable it. What you will need to do is search your drive for any *.PSW files and delete them. Reboot your computer, and the next time the window comes up, type in a username, but leave the password fielf blank. When you do this, it will never prompt you for a password again.
 
I think you can just change your primary network logon to "windows logon" under the network properties, I believe this will get you into windows without a logon and you should still be able to access your LAN.
