MS MSDN subscription how does it work?

I'm debating whether to get a msdn subscription or just a licenses for .net. For the subscription..MSDN professional sub. do i need to get multiple liceneses for that or does 1 subscription cover multiple people? thanks.

I have the Universal Subscription. It only covers one developer and all the software is for test purposes only with the exception of the Visual Studio tools and the Office tools. For both of those, you only have the legal right to use it on one machine by one developer. They do have additional licenses for the Office products...but they are only to be used for test purposes.

I believe I have everything right....but I won't deny...the licensing agreements on these things are confusing to say the least.

The point is that all of the server software and whatnot can not be used on a production system and all the software is only licensed to one developer. It is worth it for me as I am constantly looking into new ways we can do things and have a test server running all kinds of server applications along with using the usual Visual Studio stuff. If you just need a copy of Visual Studio...that is probably the way to go.

One last thing, the subscription comes with a certain number of "free" tech support calls...if you do a lot in the MS world...these can come in handy.

I wish the Action Pack included Visual Studio. I'd be ALL over that, then!

Anyone ever used the .NET Matrix program that is similar to Visual Studio? Seems to be very similar, just with a few less features. The Matrix program is free.

Looks like it might be just ASP.NET, not VB, C#, etc.

That webmatrix program looks nice...glad to see someone is taking the initiative to provide that...but I think I'll stick with VS.NET while I have a legal copy of it.
