Probably, but they will probably want the rest of the X-box back as well.

Xboxes are probably (legally) considered embedded devices, where the hardware and OS are not independent entities as they are with a normal computer. They sell you a machine with an OS that has every measure taken to make sure it is not swapped for something else (of course these measures weren't quite enough :))

I am not sure about this, but what loss you are talking about?

Do you mean the xbox-linux project can officially run on xbox?

I believe it was a case in California that MS lost concerning refunds for machines bundled with Windows. Or something like that.

The interesting part is that if you actually bought MS products for the expressed purpose of being used in the state of California you are part of the settlement by default.

If you want to give up your claim on the case you can actually surrender it to Lindows. And they will send you a "free" computer, with Lindows pre-installed, and a subscription to their software package service.

Of course Lindows doesn't intrest me in the slightest, but I would probably mess around with it for a couple weeks before sacrificing it on the alter of Debian.

Then again I don't actually live in California, so I don't qualify for it anyways.

So... what will be my next linux computer?
A 400 dollar Walmart/Lindows special?
A 300 dollar hacked Xbox, (pleasent idea since sales of Xboxs, but no games, are at a loss to Microsoft)
Or something built around a 200 dollar Mini-itx board with the embeded proccessor?
Or maybe go with the generic home-built Althon full size gaming-style machine for a couple grand...

(what I am waiting for is for Tramseta to make consumer-level mini motherboards using their fabulous cruseo chip... I'd buy like 10 or 12 of them and make the "Perfect" Linux computer. When it gets slow compared to other computers, I'll buy another 5 boards and add them to it. :p )

ah, the possibilities are endless.
