Just wondering because in my college, Java is almost exclusively taught as the way to go for Object Oriented programming. C++ and C are used (along with assembly) for computer engineering projects but .NET or any visually-oriented language is no where to be seen.
So where is Microsoft getting the people skilled in their languages and what are they developing their own software in? I admit creating user interfaces with java can be soooo time consuming...
I've programmed in BASIC (Apple II and Commodore), Pascal (MAC and PC), Visual Basic, Borland C++, .NET and all sorts of Java implementations, but this search for a "purist" language is interesting. This focus on object oriented is sure to change in time just as it changed from procedural.
