.. are you talking about the power led on the front of the case?

afaik some (maybe all) modern boards always have power.. so even though the hd and fans etc are powered down the board still has power (since the power switch runs through the board it needs power to know when you press it) .. either your board isnt turning the led off like it shoudl or your case is doing something wierd and keeping it on off that power..

you could email epox about it, maybe its a sign of a defective board.. ive never had that problem myself (although one of my asus boards sometimes turns itself on then off :p)

if you have no idea what im talking about, then i guess i have no idea what you're talking about either..

oh.

is it hooked directly to the motherboard's usb ports? or is it on an external usb hub?

either way whatever its hooked to still has power after the computer is off... if its on the motherboard you might try looking in the bios for some power saving features stuff. turn it all off, unless you actually use it. that might help.

if its an external hub, youd have to check the docs for it ..

I've had 2 motherboards that did this (MSI Pro 2A, ECS KT7VZA, and Asus P5A(this board would only do it when the "power up from keyboard" feature was turned on)), when the mouse was hooked up through the ps2 ports it would never shut off. As pamf mentioned all ATX motherboards are always powered up as long as the power supply is plugged in. It seems some also keep the ps2 ports powered up as well. I never found anything in my BIOS to disable it, so I just left it be.

are you using the usb to ps2 adapter? if so try just pluggin it in via the usb port as it is not continously supplying power (i think)

Your question is misleading . . . MS Internet Explorer has no light. You are apparently talking about an optical mouse red LED that stays on after powering down. Most have touched on it . . . what you are plugged into is still powered. ATX boards do not power off completely unless you route them through a switched plug box or a UPS. In either case, just turn them off and your mouse will die. :)

This may not apply in your case, but I have seen support info that some mouse stay on after shut down will drain the battery on the board.. you may want to check MS knowledge base just in case.

I believe this is what you're looking for...

go into your bios, find the power management option, and turn all the options in there off. also look in other menus for a 'wake on keyboard' or similar option. basically anything that lets you turn the computer on with a keypress. turn it all off, see if that helps.

if not try emailing epox for more help. failing that, get a powerbar with a big switch, put it under your desk, plug your computer into it, and turn it off when you shut down the computer.

or you could just leave it on 24/7 like a real man ;) heh.. jk :p
