hmm for some reason when I shutdown my computer the red laser light under the mouse is still lit. Is this normal or is it supposed to turn off when you shutdown(which i thought should happen).

I'm using a USB->PS/2 adapter to connect it to my Asus mb. Is there some setting to make it turn off or something?

I used to have that happen with my old ASUS P2B motherboard. The lights on the keyboard would stay on as well. I think it may have had to do with the BIOS settings of what's allowed to "wake the computer"?

It's been awhile since I've had that, so I don't remember exactly.

It's normal. If you were to look at it laying on a glass surface (where you could see it through the table), you would see that the light actually does go out... but when you pick it up it goes on as soon as it detects movement. It's always on, that's just how it is.

I have one too... wonderful things aren't they... I love mine!

I think you're confused. He's talking about after his entire computer shuts down, not when the mouse goes idle, in which case the LED dims but does not go off.

This is NOT NORMAL (Incidentally, I used to have keyboard that used to have the NUM LOCK led stay on - forgot what I did to resolve it).
I have 6 optical mice and all of their LED's shut off when the system is off.
All the optical mice of my friend's systems (MS and Logitech) turn off as well.

Sorry, don't know what you can do to fix it.
Fokks suggested the wake-on settings in BIOS. Try that. :D

yeah I looked up the wake on settings in the bios and they're all disabled already but the led on the mouse still doesnt turn off on shutdown. anyways I plugged the mouse into the USB port instead of the PS/2 and it turns off on shutdown now.
I guess the USB>PS/2 adapter doesnt work too well or something.
Thanks for all the replies.
