anybody usin the MS IntelliMouse optical, with the USB -> PS2 adapter plugged into a KVM switch, and running Win2k have problems with the pos intellipoint software detecting the wrong mouse?
I've tried like 2 or 3 dif versions of the sw, and none of them always detect my mouse as the IntelliMouse optical.. it generally detects is as just "IntelliMouse" with only 2 buttons and the wheel.. I really like using the side buttons..
when I was running this same setup with Win98, there were no problems detecting the correct mouse... but Win2k seems to have problems.. anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

After reading some posts, it seems that optical mice (USB versions) don't work very well with KVMs. Most of the users just use a regular PS/2 wheel mouse for the KVMs.

I have a Microsoft Intellmouse Explorer (optical) and i can say that it hates the KVM in some sense.

If i have two pc's hooked up to my Belkin OmniCube it runs ok until I switch from one pc to the next.

Errors i see are:
1. Mouse doesnt work, have to switch back to the first pc then back to the new one again and then it seems to work ok.
2. The scroll wheel does not work correctly no matter what I do..it ends up using the wrong commands. (It acts like the forward and back buttons on a webpage instead of scrolling up and down)

I am not using the Intellimouse software, this is just with the regular embedded Win2k drivers, I can only imagine thatthe software would hate this even more.
If you use it alot you may want to switch off to a regular PS2 mouse.

the thing is... I never had this problem when I was running 98... it wasn't until I installed 2k that it started happening..
