Ms hololens uses cherrytrail?

I find this interesting, why use cherrytrail vs amd beema or a custom apu? Thoughts?

Expected. They're not gonna go custom apu on a low volume dev kit. Cherrytrail is the best there is for a low power x86 SoC but still pretty disappointing compared to the latest ARM SoCs.
