It would be absolutely spectacular if they were able to integrate the game with Microsoft's (fairly) new http://local.live.com site. Just have the site stream the satellite images over and have them transferred in-game to make up the ground texture. If they had the time, they could model bigger cities ahead of time to show real 3D buildings (which is already there I would assume). Just an idea, and I don't think it'd be any more taxing on a computer than some of the high-end games out now, I mean, there's not much to the graphics IMO.

Long transfer times, but you could precache I suppose. Couple of other problems, though. The sat images are a patchwork of images from different birds, taken at different times and different resolutions. Moreover they are often shot from completely different angles and elevations.

Well, I must say that my suggestion was completely hypothetical, and something that would be pretty neat if achieved, but thanks anyway for analyzing it to death.

Dude, I am so sorry. I can't believe I did that. Responding to an idea posted on a forum with reasons why it won't work! /slapme. I'm ashamed.

That seaplane is about to get a bird in the intake :)

Well, the theories on implementation are interesting, but it's bound to be a big cut above the last one I played. I found Combat Flight Sim 3 very dissappointing and uninstalled it the same week I installed. I'm probably gonna reinstall IL2.

Awesome, been waiting for this for almost a year. I have FS 2002 which is ok, but wanted to skip 04 and get the next iteration.

Judging by the screenies the waiting is well fooking worth it!
