MS fax over wireless network?

Here is my setup: Desktop - WinXp with cable modem and linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router. Notebook - WinXp with Orinoco silver wireless card.

If I install the WinXp Fax utility on my desktop, will I be able to fax a document from my notebook? I figure I can "share" the fax printer so the notebook will see it on the network. Then the desktop will use it's modem to send the fax.

Since I have broadband, my desktop does not currently have an 56k modem, so I will need to buy one, but I wonder if this will work before I go out and buy a modem.

Thanks for your input.

It should work fine since you can share the fax device.

I used to mess with people at a past job... I set my computer at home up with some remote control software and then configured the fax setup. I then sent faxes from my home computer when I was at work to our dept secretary (she was a hotty!). It was fun cause I could send pictures or anything using Microsoft Word and configuring the fax as my default printer. :)

To answer your question....bsobel is right....just as you are right. Since it's a printer-type device, it will make the connection and you should have no probs. ;)

So I found out that you can not share the MS fax device under WinXp. I had to install WinFax Pro 10.02 on both computers and enable fax share. It works pretty well, but I was hoping that the cheaper (free) alternative would have worked.

Thats weird because I know I've had my some of my other machines fax devices show up under my printers, maybe it only shares when you remote desktop. (Curious, I'm off to go look now)
