MS Briefcase

Since I use a laptop for work but we keep all of our files on the network, I have started using the MS Briefcase in WinXP so I have all the files I am working on with me on my laptop but they are automatically updated to the network.

Now this would work fine but I have 1 problem:
when I try to open (or access) a file from within an application (e.g. internet explorer, word, etc.) and when I have Windows Explorer with the Briefcase open at the same time, then I get an error message:
"The Briefcase is in use on another computer.
Close the Briefcase on that computer and then try again."
Now I know it works fine, if I close Win Explorer but I do not want to do that!!!!
I need both open in order to work properly!!!

Research on the web has found that this is a new problem and did not happen with Win9x ...

Does anyone have a solution?
