MS Beta Tester ?

Microsoft product beta program members are drawn from many sources, the core of which are drawn from the following:

1) PSS Technician nominations
2) Microsoft premier and volume-licence customers
3) MSDN subscribers
4) Previous beta program members
5) Requests for nomination from http://betaplace.microsoft.com

Beta testers are assessed for their potential to contribute to the program. Testers are expected to regularly file bugs, participate in surveys, and actively feedback about the state of the product being tested. While applications for the latter are generally successful, there are no guarantees...

Beta testing can be very fulfilling from very early exposure to new products, however it is generally not for the faint-hearted or those dependent on the software for their livelyhoods etc. Usually by the time the public beta opens, products are generally stable (many others have already sacrificed their machines on your behalf!), however you should be prepared in some circumstances to trash the machine you 'dog-food' beta software on.
