MS Backup limit?

I have used MSBackup through Windows 95, 98, 98SE, and now Me. I do a full system backup weekly to a removeable hard drive. The size of my backup just went over 5 gigs, and I got a message that it was too large. I unchecked some files getting it under, and it worked fine. I can't find any reference to this limit anywhere?
