Hi folks,
I'm looking to build my own front end form for use by a small number of employees, essentially it will be a job ticket generation application, it need not be network accessible, if its tied to a single computer so be it.
It has been about a decade since I've done any decent activity with MS Access and using any type of code, to say the least I'm very rusty.
What I need help in is jogging my memory on things to keep in mind while building my databases and creating my form, perhaps there are now better and easier ways to create what I have in mind.
Customer database, simple item lists, a few other miscellaneous fields.
When launching the form/application (I'm not even sure what to call it at the moment) brings up a splash screen which requires a pick from list customer field (customer database already in place), item lists and other fields will also be a pick from list (those as well in place), a job ticket number which will be produced by an auto-number field that concatenates with the customer ID thus creating a unique job ticket number- but is only generated when the user clicks on a SAVE button which adds the record into a job ticket table, finally after clicking SAVE creates a an Excel spreadsheet with fields populated from all tables in the database. If I can incorporate a Print and Close button, all the better.
I probably will have to go back and relearn everything I once knew of Microsoft Access but some of you folks are very savvy and hoping I can get some advice to buy me some shortcuts. Especially important is how I should create the SAVE control button to save the record and initiates a set of queries which populate into a excel form....I wish I'd of kept some of my old projects.
Any input on ideas/methods would be appreciated.
Thanks much
