MS Access can't open the mail session

I receive the error message "MS Access can't open the mail session" from MS Access97 when I try to use the FILE/send feature or send.object module. I am running Access97 sr-2. This feature works fine with sr-1, but I can not get it to work with sr-2. Microsoft's website is no help. My email is configured and working properly and as I stated, worked fine with SR-1. Anyone else familiar with this? Any known solutions?
