MS Access 2000 question.. should be simple!!

this is really frustrating me. i'm working with the sample contact database which comes with MS Access 2000. all i need to do is remove 3 or 4 fields from the "contacts" table and add about 10 of my own fields. no problem, it's done. i also went into the "contacts" form and deleted the labels and textboxes for the fields i removed.

my problem is two-fold:

1) when opening the "contacts" form, it asks me for values for the fields i deleted. but i deleted the textboxes for them, so there shouldn't be a reference to them anymore, right?

2) when adding a textbox to the "contacts" form, the control source drop down menu still shows the fields i deleted (and none of my new fields). do i have to update the form or something to get this to work properly?

i'm 99.9% sure that these two things are related. i normally work in MS access 97, which doesn't have this problem. any ideas?
