this board can support a maximum of 266mhz processors, so i want to upgrade to an amd athlon xp mobile barton
i've searched and can't find much info on this board, can anyone tell if i would be able to overclock a mobile to good speeds (2.3GHz+) on this board?

is any modding required to install a mobile processor into a desktop socket A motherboard?

I wouldn't get the mobile unless your board supports 400 fsb. My mobile ran at 200 x 10 (400 speed), and lower settings will be a waste. Sometimes the multiplier setting won't go higher than 12, so you really need the higher fsb to reach the potential overclock. My old aopen board would reset back to 600 when you tried to run higher than 12.0. No modding is necessary, but most boards will read the mobile as "unknown cpu". This is normal, as the manufacturer's never intended the boards to run with mobile cpus. They were designed for notebooks, but work fine with manual settings. Newegg has a refurb abit an7 for $49 last time I checked, but you may have to order the backplate from abit for $10. Most refurbs don't come with a backplate (i/0 shield).
