I've seen many people looking for the best deal on CD/DVD and other small item type packaging material (bubble mailers and cardboard boxes). I've been looking myself and was shocked to find something for DVD packages for $0.08 each, shipped to me:

Quill.com Buy One Get One Free on 9" X 12" Self Seal Bubble Mailers

You get 100 bubble mailers per box and each 9X12 mailer can be easily cut in half to allow you to mail 2 DVDs or other small items per bubble envelope. That means you're getting essentially 200 items shipped per box. The price is $35.99 for one case and $33.99 for 2-4 cases and $31.99 for 5 or more.

I personally got 5 cases for $31.99 each, or $159.95 for 500 envelopes, but as it says, its buy one get one free right now, so you get not 5 cases but 10 of them! Thats 2,000 small-item packages for $159.95 (cut each envelope in half). Thats just $0.08/item shipped! Quill's shipping is free and you can even used one of the following codes:

PK6 Free Executive Planner w/ $150 purchase (expires 1/31)
HH4 Free Luggage Tag & Lock w/ $75 purchase (exp. 1/18)
QR8 Free Mrs. Fields Cookies w/ $130 purchase (exp 1/25)
HC7 Free Personal Organizer w/ $75 purchase (exp 1/18)

Hope someone can use this, I've been looking for a deal on bubble envelopes for a while and this is by far the best deal I've come across.

Some of the details:

1) I got my email order confirm and it has $159.95 on it although my check out initially showed $179 ($35.99/box rather than $31.99). I called before I placed the order and confirmed the $31.99 price.
2) The email also confirmed I was getting 10 boxes rather than 5 for the $159.99.
3) I checked on-line this morning and the UPS tracking # already shows 10 7.9 lb boxes in transit from CA, and one smaller box (presumably the cookies). They are scheduled for delivery tomorrow (1/16)! Thats very fast for UPS ground! Quill's system is quick!
4) The 9X12 dimension envelopes are EXTERNAL dimensions, my email confirm showed the internal dimensions of 8 1/2 X 10 1/2, still plenty of room for what I need them for.

They also have much better prices on boxes and packing peanuts than I've seen anywhere else. Shipping is free on all orders over $45.00.

If you shipping that much you would be better off contacting a wholesale shipping supplier in your local area. You should be able to beat these prices by at least half . We buy these same 9x12 self-sealing padded bubble mailers for $0.05 each in quantities of 500 or more with free same day delivery from Safeco. If you don't mind a shredded paper stuffing liner in lieu of the bubble liner you can get the padded envelopes for $0.03 each 500+. Most shipping suppliers also offer items that you may not even realize are available gor your shipping needs at prices much lower than thsese online office supply stores like Staples.com,OD.com and Quill.

Where are the cookies?

Use code QR8 for Free Mrs. Fields Cookies w/ $130 purchase (exp 1/25).

I ship a bunch of stuff from CDs, DVDs, small electronic parts, ram, computer cards and other stuff.

Thanks for the tip on the $0.05 each shipped for 9X12. If you have an 800# to contact them that would be great.

The $0.08 I mention above is WITH SHIPPING (shipping is free). I'll have to check out bubblefast.

With the buy one get one free on the bubble mailers I think this is the best internet based deal out there right now. Anyone find anything better?

I used to use PackagingPrice.com and their shipping KILLED me.

ok, with shipping (quill is free, Bubblefast is around 9-12 bucks, depending on where you are)
Bubblefast is still cheaper, by about 4 or 5 cents per envelope.
(these are size fours, BTW)

Now I'm confused... I looked at bubblefast.com and their #4 envelopes are $25.80 per box of 100 plus shipping of $16 to me. If I look at 1000 envelopes (10 boxes of them) it would be $258.00 + $16 shipping = $274 for 1000, or $0.274 per envelope.

If I go with Quill.com I get theirs at $31.99/box of 100 but also buy one get one free on the boxes, so $31.99 X 5 = 159.95 for 1000 with no shipping, or $0.16 per envelope at Quill.

How is $0.274 cheaper than $0.16 by $0.04 to $0.05? I think you must not be considering the buy one box get another one free deal.

If you only want say 400 envelopes it would be $103.20 + 16 shipping = $119.20 for 400 or $0.298/envelope at Bubblefast vs. $33.99 X 2 = $67.98 for 400 (only 2 boxes since 2 more are free) or $0.1699 per envelope at Quill. With 400 of these Quill is about $0.13/envelope cheaper and for 1000 of them they are still $0.11 cheaper PER ENVELOPE.

Tell me if I'm missing something there BuffaloToys.com.

My packages arrived today, over 70 lbs of envelopes and a nice tin of Mrs. Fields cookies for $159 shipped. Just UPS shipping on this had to be over $50. Amazing!

Apparently people who are comparing the prices are not READING that Quill.com is selling them 2-for-1...

In other words, whatever the price lists, cut that price in half, and that is essentially what you're paying!

100 envelopes size 9.5" x 14" on Bubblefast is about $50. 100 of the same on Quill.com is about $32.

Where is the disagreement?

Please explain how and why you are cutting bubble envelopes in half?

Once cut in half, then doesn't each envelope now need to be sealed on two sides, instead of just one. Usually on a bubble envelope, one just need to remove a strip and then fold the flap over to seal the envelope.

Can you post a photo on what one of these cash saver look like before it goes to the post office?

I'll have to get a picture up later today on how its done, but its simple really. On the normal envelope you have one end sealed and the other end with the strip you pull off to seal it, right?

Well, seal the envelope (leave it empty) and then cut it in half. Now you have 2 envelopes that are 1/2 the size, each one sealed at one end (one with the adhesive strip side and one which was already sealed when you got it) and open on one end. All you do is slide the DVD in sideways and tape up the "bottom" of it. I use brown colored tape I buy in 36 count boxes personally. There you are, sealed on all sides and ready to address.

Hope that clears it up.

As to the WHY asked by flomokev, its a simple question of dimensions. I can buy an 6" x 10" envelope for about $0.11 each shipped that are good for 1 DVD each, or I can buy an 8" X 12" envelope for $0.16 each, and then cut it in half. By cutting an 8"X 12" in half I end up with 2 sides of the envelope that are 8" X 6", each side of which cost me $0.08 (1/2 of $0.16). Its 30% cheaper PER ITEM SHIPPED and is just as easy to seal up IMHO.
