I pulled the trigger...can't believe it...

Ordered Abit IT7, P4 1.8a, Corsair XMS512-3200 memory, Gainward GForce 4-4400 Ultra, Antec 830 case w/430 true power, Santa Cruz sound, Lite-On Burner, Toshiba DVD Reader, Linksys router, Win XP...Haven't decided what HSF yet...thoughts?

I'm psyched...geez...next Friday by the time I fire it up...an ETERNITY...

Thx for all the input from different people over these past 4 weeks or so... 🙂

I've heard the retail Intel cooler is decent, but if you got an OEM version, I don't know really (I'm an AMD guy)

Alpha PAL8942 for the cooler if you plan on overclocking but get a reasonable fan instead of the deltas hair dryers.
svcompucycle has great prices, good customer service and good reseller marks.

Hey GSethi...

You have time to surf thru the forum...thought you were always posting/testing/posting about that Giga 8IEXP... lol (just kidding)...you get that Epox board ?

Thx for input about the HS and F... what do you guys think of the AVC Sunflower ??

The AVC sunflower is a GREAT!!! HSF. Never, no matter how high my Vcore is, no matter what I'm running, has my CPU gone over 43 deg. It's moderately loud, but you can get a fan speed controller if it bothers you. Also, mounting is really easy as it uses the same retention bracket as the stock Intel version.

Another very good alternative is the Alpha 8942 (I think that's the number) You can choose any 80mm fan you like for this one. It's a little harder to mount though. It uses no retainer bracket and it mounts to the motherboard with it's own screws and springs. Alpha makes excellent quality products overall. Their heatsinks are used exclusively on all of the Sun Microsystems CPU's--all without fans on them.

Thx for replies and links, guys...

Maybe I can get my mind off the new system for a few hours today ...will watch the US Open golf tourney this afternoon...

🙂
