Mr. Robot or Orphan Black, which to start next?

Mr. Robot is a fantastic show. The cinematography, acting and story are all top notch. I went in with low expectations because most "hacker" shows are fairly lame, but it's very well done and the story is gripping.

I typically follow a show all the way through but couldn't keep going with Orphan Black anymore. Mr. Robot would be my vote but there's only 8 episodes so far - there's no reason why you can't start with that then go to OB.

Mr. Robot!! It goes in crazy directions, not your typical hacker archetype show then again it kinda is I guess? Difficult to explain but it has all the elements of a very entertaining and addictive show.

Shows that have a self contained plot each episode are easier to sell in syndication after the first showing. That's when the producers start making a big profit.

That is the old 1990's business model. Now serialized TV shows are wanted because they have a captive audience that makes the content more valuable on streaming platforms or via DVD sales.

Haven't see Mr. Robot.

Orphan Black is pretty cool, it's got a weird shift of genre (action/suspense, horror, and comedy bordering on farce) depending on whose storyline it is... I tend to like it, I think Tatiana Maslany is really good.

At first I didn't even realize she played all the characters. Thought they found twins or triplets for the roles.

OH, BTW, if you have Netflix - Narcos was very good (IMO). It's only on it's first season, but they are off to a great start.

Netflix is on the list after I finish Bloodline. I hac liked all the Netflix originals I have seen. Im buthurt big time there is not a new season of Lillyhammer

I just watched the first episode of OB, I am a little confused. I dont know what the deal is with the birth certificates in the lock box and who the girl was that popped up in her back seat at the end of the epsode

I didn't expect any of that with it being a show on USA network. But the hype and editorials about the show really sold me, so I figured I'd give it a chance.

Saw the pilot, never looked back. Fantastic show. Through and through.

And yep, everything about the show is top notch. Everything. Director/writer/showrunner Sam Esmail really hit a home run, glad he decided this story deserved a series-format as opposed to the big screen. It wouldn't have been given any justice in such a short run time.

And I think I'm glad USA picked it up. First, they needed a good hit that went another direction from their usual shows; I don't think I have watched any USA show for more than a few episodes because I was bored and curious and caught it on air while looking for something to watch, like at a hotel room or something. Second, I don't know if the show could have the creative freedom it was obviously given if a different network picked it up. Not sure if it was shopped around at first or what, but I doubt this show would have had the same creative structure and feeling if it were on ABC. Fox, perhaps, but Fox would have put it in the worst time slot and and seemingly intend for its early death. USA renewed it for a second season after early feedback before it even had the public premier!

I am stoked for Season 2. So much for this show to explore (including that 3 day hole in Eliot's memory, which Esmail said will be explored). I hope it maintains everything it has been so far - if any of the creative team changes, we'll probably be disappointed. From the sound team to the writer team to the director of photography and of course Esmail himself (as principal showrunner among the other hats he wears)... anything changes and it will carry a major risk of ruining the very character of the show.

Last night's soundtrack (among all the other episodes) was insanely awesome. Captured everything so well.

So many shows to watch.

I need to watch Orphan Black. But I also need to watch Narcos.

And I still need to start watching Game of Thrones.

Argh. Someone, give me like a week or two where the universe just freezes in time. Please? I want to binge so bad. 😀

Tried to watch Mr. Robot and the web player just froze.

If you are using the USA web player in chrome I noticed Adblock borks if its enabled before the stream is started. I start the stream with Adblock off and then turn it on once the show is playing. Runs fine after that and no ads.

There are two things I didn't like about Mr. Robot.

First, the music used to build tension annoyed me more than it built tension.

**Spoilers**
Second, I was annoyed by the idea that things would be great if everyone's debt was wiped out and the stock market crashed. I have no debt and most of my money is in my 401k. What they are doing in the show would really hurt all the responsible people of the world and it would help the irresponsible people that can't manage their money. Once the banks get going again, the irresponsible people of the world would be back in debt within days, the responsible people would be poorer, and the banks would probably end up with all the money that the responsible people lost.

I just finished season 1 of OB, it is ok. I hate the dumb sound effects and camera effects they do when they show the crazy clone. That character is sorta cheesy as well

Everyone in this thread will recommend Mr. Robot, the demographics/relatability is closer to AT forumers.

It is still much better than most things out there.

I kinda of gave up on Orphan Black before catching up to be honest.

Have almost finished up The Tudors, it's very good also.

Old now, but very good. Is kinda li9ke going back and watching Deadwood if you never did. I did att, the wife was so miffed when they canceled that show.
