For those that don't know, Mr. Birdman was responsible for rooting the Droid X, as well as providing invaluable aide to Koush in creating the recovery. He's just sent out a tweet. "Your ROM flashing addition will be cured soon . . ."

Good news incoming? The Droid X to actually become a viable product?

This would probably have been better served in one of the several other DroidX bootloader/flashing threads that already exist imho.

IF the Droid X boot loader has been broken, then that's big enough news to warrant its own thread. Note, I said 'if'. If not, then this thread is going to be a big let down. :(

It's already a viable product IMO. The fact that it's getting custom ROMs makes it even better. I like my Droid X way more than I like my Droid 1 and at one point in time I was flashing ROMs on that thing at least twice a day.

If the boot loader has been cracked, and custom ROMs can be installed then it's own thread is warranted I think as well.

The Droid X with Froyo eliminates part of the "need" the Droid 1 had for rooting. Namely that the OS was still young, and the phone was on the slow side of things which OC fixed. Obviously ROM flashing has other benefits as well.

Hopefully the X gets broken. Although I still have a year left on my contract haha.

I kinda wonder if this means the bootlader is being cracked or if they're closer to getting the 2ndboot workaround to work.

If the bootloader is cracked that's actually pretty amazing. I kinda stopped following Droid X development since the Koush drama incident, so I'm not sure whats going on.

I highly doubt the bootloader is cracked. I'm sure the boot process is just hijacked like koush's hijack and from there you can get into a recovery to load a rom.

If it lets you reliably load custom roms, including kernels and other other feature, does it matter if its a hijack or fully cracked? I also doubt its fully cracked though, Milestone devs have been working on it 7 months. If Americans crack it in 2 months, that's embarrassing. :p

I'd bet more people are working on the Droid X than the Milestone. Maybe I'm wrong, but the Droid X seems to be the same level the Droid 1 was.

Also, the work on the Milestone is very useful for the Droid X. No need to redo what has already been done on the Milestone.
