MPV Alternator Replacement

Hi,

I gots a 2000 MAzda MPV. The Alternator recently died and needs replacement. Anyways I know you have to take of the axel and all that crap.

How long does it take about? Also are the bolts that attach to the bracket easily broken?

I've never replaced the alternator, but as with most vans, things are packed in tight, it's just how the body style works in all vans. I have a 2000 MPV and all I can say is I feel your pain, have fun and be prepared to put an entire weekend into it, if you have the right tools, longer if you dont.

Thanks well u got it done and it took my mechanic around eight hours. Does that sound about right?

You should have also asked on the mpvclub.com forum, I am sure someone had already performed this job and provided the cost/time. 8 hours sounds too much. I did some searching, it took one guy 4-5 hours to replace the alternator:

Well that's lame. He said the bolts holding the bracket broke and had to redrill them. He's a tad slow prolly smoked to many J's. I'll check out the sites after on iPhone browser right now. Thanks for the info guys.

Sounds like a crap job, at least it's done now. I rather hate working on my MPV as everything is so damn tight.
