MPSuperstore (Marine Park) warning

I got the Nikon Coolpix 990 from them today. Although a great deal at $660 shipped (using the MSN 20%), it is a european model thus making the warranty non-existent

I think I'll call them tomorrow and demand they send a call tag.

Thanks for the heads up. I also have one on the way.

As per earlier thread I spoke with a Nikon salesperson and they said that I still had a warranty but "it's more limited". She didn't elaborate what that means.

Anyone have the scoop on how much of a warranty we have on this item?

morkinva,
Does everything else look normal (all the accessories, manuals, etc)?

I noticed that mercata has the 990 back and after the mercata dollars and passport it would be $680. Darn it!

Unfortunately, it would be like pulling teeth to get a full return including shipping cost($45 plus return costs). I think most credit card disputes won't include shipping otherwise I would gladly pay the extra $20 for the Mercata deal!

it comes with FOTOSTATION 4.0 and PHOTOSHOP LE along with the standard Nikon cd. I don't know if this comes with the US version. There is a user manual in English, but also in German, French, and some I can't figure out. Also, its clear from the warranty card that its a european warranty. The grip is black with red, whereas the US one is supposed to be black with purple, I think. I'm assuming the function menu on the camera has english, but I don't want to try it so as to give them an excuse for not returning it.

The fellow I just spoke with at Nikon said there is NO warranty, and is considered 'grey market'.

Damn that was a lot of shipping cost too.

Morkinva,
How long did it take for your order to arrive? I placed an order last week and as of today, they still haven't finished processing it yet!!!??? Thanks.

It was purchased the morning of 11/16 and arrived today 11/21 by UPS

Regarding the warranty, perhaps FirstUSA bank will stand up for me as MP's policy' page says:

3)Your receipt is good for all manufacturer's warranties.

4)Your receipt will be neccesary for any future warranty or insurance claims you may need to make. Please keep it in a safe place. We cannot issue duplicate receipts.

5)Repairs on defective merchandise are handled by the manufacturer and not by Marine Park Camera and Video Inc., unless otherwise indicated on this receipt.

So their sale of a non USA warranteed item is clearly fraudulent, so long as I can get verification from Nikon

My intention was to purchase this for resale. Perhaps if I sell it with a 30 day warranty I can still make $30 on it. I'm still up in the air.

Yikes, that hurts about the "No warranty"!

Someone kick me please! I had that uneasy suspicion when I first visited the site but my greed got the best of my wisdom.

take a looka at the ratings of Marine Park at

doesn't look good.

Stupid me! I usually check all that stuff but since Passport had them listed as a retailer I just assumed they were a high quality dealer! I trusted Microsoft---imagine that! I guess I am as stupid as I look!

At least I just bought another Nikon 990 at Mercata for $684 only $24 more than mpsuperstore. Now to fight about rma and trying to get their outrageous shipping & handling costs reimbursed since they fraudulently didn't identify their item as a grey market (without legal manufacturer's warranty among other things)

Well I ordered a Canon G1. It should arrive tomorrow. I'll let you all know if I was ripped off too. I don't know of any internation version of the G1 yet (crossing fingers). I used my AmEx, so I'm pretty well protected.
