MPREXE not responding-- What is this?

In the 'close program' dialogue box you get from Ctrl+Alt+Del, sometimes there'll be a program listed as 'mprexe' and it'll have the '[not responding]' tag next to it. If you check the computer right after it boots up, it's there. But then it'll disappear from the 'close dialogue' box even if you don't hit 'end task'. A few moments ago I checked it and it was there again. When I hit 'end task' to close this program which wasn't responding, my computer'll hang when you tell it to shut down. If you leave it alone, it shuts down fine.

This computer is very stable, it's using Windows 98 it hasn't had an 'unforced crash' in over a week. I define 'unforced' as being a random crash. If I run something which I know is crash-prone, then of course it'll crash.

I did a virus check on this machine yesterday and it came up clean. The virus definations aren't 100% up to date, but they're fairly recent. I'm going to update the virus definations and try again later tonight just to be sure.

What is this 'mprexe' and should I just not worry about it as it seems to be completely benign?

EDIT: Upon putting in a search for this on Google, it turns out that there's a pretty long list of stuff that could be wrong. Oy. Well, considering the program seems to start responding again after a few moments to shut itself off (it's not on the Close Program box now about 5 minutes later after this initial post), I guess this is just a wierd Windows quirk. I'll see how well this machine runs, if it runs fine, I won't worry about it.

Yeah, that's the thing I saw. Like I said though, I don't get any error messages saying MPREXE crashing, it's just that if I check it the very SECOND my computer finishes booting up with Ctrl+Alt+Delete, it'll come up as 'not responding'. If I check it a minute later, it's gone, so it probably 'hung' for a few seconds then kicked back in and closed out or whatever. I was worrying over nothing. ^_^;;;
