MPG/MPEG to Avi converter software?

Just captured the new three family guys to mpeg and want to convert the 4.8GB mpg to avi.

Any freeware software to do this?

I use Alieve conveter but it is not free.

Hauggpauge 350 - Win2000 Software, using DVD Standard play in mpg format.

I think Windows Movie Maker will do what you want.
