MPG/AVI - editing software?

Hello!

I'm looking for a program that can delete parts of/add/merge .mpg- and/or .avi-files.

Anyone who has had any experience with this and can throw in a tip?
 
Virtualdub is a good free choice. (www.virtualdub.org) It's a post production app that works with avi's, and can read mpgs, but to append those, you need to render to avi first. You can edit out parts and filter parts with a good selection of filters.
 
VirtualDub is very good, or you could also try using Adobe Premiere for more advanced video effects
