.mpg association problem

I installed Winamp3 a while ago, and all my movie files became associated with it. I uninstalled it, then got Winamp2, but all the files are still associated with Winamp3. I am on Windows98. Any suggestions?

Right click a .mpg file while holding shift. You'll get an open with option. In the option box select WMP for example and the always open with this app.

This works for just simply opening it, but it won't associate it with Window Media Player. I'll select Windows Media Player, click in the "always play with this device" box, and then it will try to open through Winamp still.

Tell you the truth Winamp 3 is pissing me off. I can use BSPLAYER, SASAMI2k, WMP and winamp plays the movies upside down, so I just disassociated them. Try this:
Go into explorer. Tools, folder options. Find the .mpg association and delete it completely. Get out, try double clicking another mpg. It should prompt you to select an app.
Good luck.

sounds like a good idea but when you say explorer do you mean internet explorer? because i have no folder options under tools.

Start winamp, go into preferences and unmark the files you don't want associated with winamp..

He said he already uninstalled Winamp3, and I don't think Winamp2 has the .mpg file association possibility.

That is a weird problem, but yeah, WinAmp3 is pissing me off too. I don't like it yet.

I would do that except Winamp2, what I now have, doesn't even have .mpg or .mpeg as an option, however, WInamp 3 did. Should I reinstall that, then disassociate the files? Then uninstall Winamp3?
