All right, i'll try to give as much info about the problem as i can. If you've got a solution you think would work, please email me as well.
problem: I have a Leadtek winfast tv2000 xp tv tuner card. I'm trying to use it to record some shows off tv while i'm at work, but i don't want a half hour show to take up 1.4 gb, so i'm trying to convert the mpeg2 files to divx. The problem is that after the files have been encoded to divx, i get the "gradual sync" problem. I've heard of a few other people having this problem. The audio and video gradually get more and more out of sync as i'm watching, until by the end of a half hour show, its about 1-1.5 seconds off.
The same problem occurs if i use mpeg-vcr to edit the video, because to save the edited video, like...re-encodes the file into mpeg2.
I'm using Vidomi to encode into divx. I've tried using AO Video, but about 20 seconds into the encoding process, it tells me that it couldnt read a frame, and it stops encoding....
Which leads me to believe that the problem is bad frames being dropped during the encoding process, leaving me with about 2 seconds of missing video by the end of a half hour show. I can't find any programs that allow me to search mpeg2 files for bad frames, and i have no idea how i can get vidomi to leave the bad frames in. So if anyone knows, please help me out.
Also, if anyone knows if there's something i can fix which is causing the bad frames, it would help to get rid of them altogether.
And also, yes, the video is fine if played in mpeg2 before editing.
