Is there a simple way to get an mpeg2 video into an AVI video file?

I don't want it to be recompressed to divx, I either want it to be made into an uncompressed file while maintaining the full resolution and framerate or I want to be able to convert it to a DV file.

I've tried mpeg2avi, but it's not very intuitive and hasn't been working right.

Anyone know of any software that does this easily and painlessly?

Thanks.

Have you tried replacing .mpg with .avi and see what happends? ;)

AVI is just a wrapper it's not a codec. Lots of different codecs can have the AVI extension. Do you have QT Pro? I've used that to change video from one format to another before. Have you tried opening in any editing software and exporting it as another file type?

try "nandub" and "FlaskMPEG"
a google search will supply you with enough links for both of them.

I know AVI is just a wrapper, but mpeg isn't. It's a specific format and it won't work that way. I'm trying to import them into Avid Xpress DV and it's not taking the mpeg2 files. I have Quicktime Pro, but that won't open mpeg files.

I'll try nandub and FlaskMPEG.

Thanks.

I tried using FlaskMpeg and it worked great, except it's not doing it full frame. It's making the 720x480 video into a 640x480 video and sticking in a 720x480 frame. I can't anywhere to make it read the full resolution of the video. Which is 720x480.
