I'm having an issue playing back MPEG files on my system. Win2k was recently reinstalled and it worked fine before the reinstallation. The Nimo codec pack is installed. And Divx files are unaffected.
Under most media players MPEG files play the video smooth, but the audio is scratchy regardless of volume (the files are being played from a hard drive). The audio sounds like what you'd expect if you tuned the volume up way too high and it was clipping, however it's not volume related. (and multiple media players too). Under PowerDVD the audio is fine, however when the playback is stopped I get the message "This program has crashed and the error is being written to a log", the hard drive acts like alot of stuff is being written at that point. However I cannot find the log that is being written. The information doesn't show up in Win2k's system/application log either.
The problem exists in all mpeg files, so it's not just a bad file or two.
