MPEG AND AVI PROBLEMS UNDER WIN2k!

Hey all.

I have a problem with MPEGS and AVI's freezing on my computer. It happens to "most" files, and I can't seem to find the root of the problem. Here is my computer specs. I am running Duron 750, IBM 30G HDD and 128MB RAm with 8MB AGP.

I am running Win2k and Windows Media 7, with DIVX 3.11 Codec installed.

The problem occurs in random points along the movie, and you have to seek ahead to play. WHen you go back to the same spot, it freezes. Usually while I am playing a movie, if it freezes, I leave it for 15 seconds then starts playing from that spot again. It really pisses me off! Happens with AVI's as well, though not on a large scale. I have tried quite a few difference programs and fiddled around with settings, but I can't get to the bottom. Any suggestions people? Thanks in advance!

Are you using Windows Media Player to play these MPEGs/AVIs? Media player does seem to get corrupt and needs to be reloaded often. Try this, grab GDIVX and see if it still locks up. That should help troubleshoot this problem.
