MPEG-4?

There'a s Sharp VNEZ1U MPEG-4 Streaming Video Camcorder available from uBid right now, and they have 21 of them so the price is staying reasonable. I'm fascinated by the possibilities. But can someone tell me something more about MPEG-4 technology?

MPEG-4 is an advanced algo to compress video.

It supports better resolutions than mpeg 2(dvd), better compression....

Someone hacked support for mp3 audio in the offical codec. Divx ;-) anyone? 😀

stealth is right about the decoding requirements.

mpeg4 is a good compression scheme.... but mpeg2 offers better quality though. mpeg4 is a HUGE drain even on a gigahertz.... it's sickening sometimes...

mpeg4 is also capable of very high level compression for VERY small files which also result in crappy image quality due to the high compression ratio...

this sounds like it does MP4 compression onboard.. if so, that means that there probably is a chip that is built to do it in realtime.. wouldn't you like to have that on YOUR Decoder card? (it'd be nice if the decoder card could also accelerate ENCODING!)
