MP510 M.2 PCIe or Samsung 970 PRO

What will you be using the drive for? What is your budget? Do you need Pro speed instead of just Evo / Crucial MX500 speed? Do you need m.2 at all since 2.5" is cheaper?
 
You are comparing a "value" drive to the top-of-the-line Samsung 970 PRO. Of course the 970 PRO will be the fastest.

It shows the Corsair is a great value, with very good performance. However, it is not as fast as the 970 EVO, let alone the significantly more expensive 970 PRO. Corsair rates it as higher performance than just about any NVMe drive I've seen, it just quite get there in most categories. However, it is cheaper than many drives, and has an amazing TBW warranty, so it seems like it is an outstanding value in the $/performance area.

After being shocked how low Corsair was pricing this, I decided to look. It looks like places such as Newegg, Amazon, and 3rd party sellers are price-gouging the heck out of this drive right now, so if you need a good performing NVMe drive right now, look at the Samsung 970 EVO or the Western Digital Black.

For example, Amazon is charging almost 2X the MSRP of the 480GB version:

I have explicitly written that reference is only to performance and quality rather than price

Just because you have "explicitly" written it, M.2 is a connection standard and not a drive. It can take a SATA and/or a PCIe SSD. 😵

If you ask for recommendations, you should expect (and hope) that people will ask you questions to fill in the missing information needed to give you a good recommendation.

For many users, there is no real-world performance difference between a 2.5" SATA Samsung EVO and a m.2 pcie Samsung PRO, but the pro is much more expensive.

For a data drive I'd much rather have a 2 TB SATA Evo than a 500 GB m.2 Pro.
