so I downloaded half of clerks the other day. and I got to load it up in Real Player. and it says "Cannot decompress video MP45 codec is missing."

So my question is the MP4 and DivX codec different? and why is this the first I'v heard of a MP4 format? DivX is everywhere I have not a clue. what the difference is.

where can I find MP45? and why create a competing codec when DivX is obviosuly superior?

Mpeg4 is a video compression techinque which Divx uses, most imporantly about divx is that it allows us to use any type of audio codec with it.

So I'm guessing that MP45 is Version 4.5?

The real question is why are you using RealCrappyPlayer to play divx movies?

I've found the MS codec at dvd.box.sk They have a whole section of DiVX softwares. I believe it is called DiVX4Windows.
