I know at least 95% of all PC owners have them. Are they illegal or are they just not as bad as warez? Just curious.

they're very illegal. someone got a letter from verizon saying they have to delete the mp3's or something or they'll disconnect their dsl.

it was a post made yesterday.

I posted basically the same question last week Sniper and someone responded saying that the Mp3 format wasn't illegal and thats true......But maybe the format isn't illegal but the music itself that is put into that format is copyrighted so I think it would be considered illegal if you get it for free off the net.
Now if you mention mp3's/movies on theses or most message boards and there's no problems but mention software and it's locked right away. Seems strange to me.

MP3's are not illegal if you own the rights to the songs themselves. ( bought the CD / Tape ) It is illegal to trade / download MP3's that you do not own the rights to, that is the problem.

I seen the post Chipster. Reason no one flames at d/ling MP3's is because well like I said 90/95% or more ppl who own a PC have MP3's on their PC.

<< MP3 are worst than warez >>

you got it backwards. at least when you buy software, the guy who wrote it got paid a decent wage. muscian's get paid crap whether or not you buy the record. most of them make most of their money playing shows. so if a mp3 helps them sell more tickets, it's good for them. that's why you don't hear the musican's whining about mp3 (vise versa actually), you only hear the record companies.
