SORRY - REALISED NOW THAT THIS IS A REPOST SO JUST VOTE AS OPPOSED TO POSTING A REPLY TELLING ME HOW STUPID I AM :)

I personally think 192kb/s is about right although i don't mind a variable bit rate either. Anything more and i don't think the added filesize justifies the 'increase' in audio quality - i certainly can't tell the difference but then of course audio quality is quite a subjective thing i suppose. I can however notice a dulling of sound @128kb/s.

Also - could someone explain to me how a variable bit rate encode works? Does the bit rate choosen for a particular segment of audio depend upon the frequencies at that point?

EDIT:- well perhaps ppl could just cast their votes anyways as opposed to posting a reply, just so as to get a nice clear idea of what ppl encode at, seeing as how the other thread didnt have a poll :)
