minidisc is a pain, if onlythey'd play mp3 and allow for data transfer, instead of that lame recording mode they force you to use to use cuz its their copy protection.
Yeah, not to mention that their OpenMG jukebox SUCKS ASS and crashes 2/3 of the time. You wanna transfer MP3s to your minidisc without the 3 strikes restriction and without quality restrictions? Open Nero, compile MP3s, burn image, mount image to 'dummy' drive (virtual CD-ROM), burn dummy drive into Minidisc with Sony's other burner software. Its way too complicated, and in the end they all get converted to ATRAC3 anyway so its nowhere near the same quality (not that ATRAC3 is that bad, but you should see what happens when you decompress and recompress an MP3...lossy compression != perfect clone!)Originally posted by: 0roo0roo

another vote for sony MD. if you are willing to live with a few software/copyright quirks, it's a great option right now. death of real-time was the biggest factor.
recorders are cheap and much faster and you can carry around a lot more music. plus battery life is great. ipod 4-6 hrs? try 24+ hrs on my mz-r900 and even more on newer models.
