So I just bought a Rio600 (thanks hot deals forum), but I was wondering what's the best program to use to convert my mp3s to wma's? The one in the box supposedly only has a trial period...Thanks

This isn't any help but converting an mp3 to wma is like converting a christian to islam. Don't do it, man.

JellyBaby-
If I could help it, I would stay away from audio compression altogether, but I use it for the reason it was invented: to make the most of my storage space. MP3s are okay. WMAs are less so, but on a portable player in the gym, WMA is indistinguishable at 64kbps from MP3 at 128kbps. So I get twice as many songs which means I work out twice as long ;-)

Lars-
Looks good, but the developer's site and download links are all down. Is this product no longer being offered? Or should I just try again tomorrow?

I hope it is just down. I did not go there for a while though. The program is great and quite easy for converting audio files, I first used it after I bought my Rio600 a few months ago (free AR).

A 600 eh... why not a riovolt? anyways, I own a rivolt and I use winamp to convert my mp3s to wma but I keep a backup copy of the mp3 just in case. I encode it as a 64bit wma file and it sounds (in some cases) just as good, if not, almost as good as the mp3 but the file sizes are so much smaller. Just load in your playlist and it will encode each song. you have to change the winamp output to wma and u need the full version of winamp to do this. not the lite version.

TripperJoe, that's cool it's just that any proprietary media format that gains momentum is one more nail in the coffin for those of us who want to avoid music rights restriction.
