mp3 tags and sorting...weird issue

Hi,

I have a problem with sorting my mp3 files. The only tag information my files have are artist and title, nothing else whatsoever. When sorting by artist one would expect that the files are then sorted by title, too:

A-Ha, Analogue
A-Ha, Cannot Hide
A-Ha, The Blood That Moves The Body
etc.

However, what I get is this (I marked the titles that are at the wrong positions):

This occurs in Songbird and Winamp alike. So I looked at the tags in mp3tag v2.5:

Looks good to me, so where is the problem?

the problem is you havent noticed "the" is being ignored for sorting purposes in your media players. this isnt a bug, theyre designed that way.

pretty sure this isnt something new...a lot of media players have been doing that for a while, howd you miss it?

yes its ignoring the "The" many players do

WinAmp does not ignore the "the" for me

Interesting. Honestly I just noticed it recently. Is there a player where I can disable this?

Anubis, your screenshot shows the playlist, not the library. I think in the playlist it is different and you have more sorting options like filename.

your right, the playlist works fine and the lib does not, i never user the lib which is why i never noticed this
