mp3 skipping problems

I just upgraded my computer from a celeron 1.3, 256 mb ram, 15gb hd to a p4 2.6c (and new mobo), 1 gig ram, 80 gb hd.

My old system played mp3's perfect. Now, sometimes during a song it will jump 1 second ahead or so. This happened in both winamp and windows media. It also happens in games. It happens on mp3s that I had on my old system as well as new mp3s.

I'm running win XP pro (clean install) with an audigy soundcard. My drivers are all up to date. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Audigy 1 hell. Its been happening to me too. I move the Audigy 1 to higher PCI slot. It took care of most of the problems.

I also disable a com/serial port too to make sure that wasn't it. Once in awhile i get MP3 that skips during intensive multi-tasking.

Ok, I'll try that now. Never had any problems with the card before, but a pci slot does sound plausible. Thanks.
