I'm looking to rip my entire CD collection to MP3 and play them through my home stereo. I've seen some boxes that hook up to an MP3 server through a network, but I'm looking to use existing hardware to do the same thing. Is there a way to do this with the ease of a remote, or do I need a screen/kbd/mouse to listen to tunes?

I believe winamp has a remote control plug-in, but how do you select one tune from 500 using a remote?

An easier idea might be to rip the mp3's and put them back onto cdr and then play them with a dvd/cd player through your home stereo. You can put about 10-15albums onto one cdr so I would go that route. Then you can leave the computer out of the room with the home stereo setup if you would like and play them in the car too if you have a car cd/mp3 player.

You could pick up a JVC RX-8010 or RX-9010 receiver, it has a usb port on the front of it, you can listen to any audio from your computer with it, I played around with it a little, I hooked up my laptop to my receiver and it works great, you can use any audio program like winamp or media player etc. etc. etc.

I got the RX-8010 for $204.00 NEW from ubid a couple of weeks ago.

Here is a link to JVC's specs for the 9010

My Mitsubishi HDTV has a firewire hookup, they claim full compatability with the standard and it will allow you to customize remote control's to work your particular mp3 program.

Duno, I'd just as soon burn mp3's to CD's or DVD recordables. Beats having another cord hanging around. Also consider the mp3 players like Nomad with a 40gig HD.
